Hello world!
Who am I? Good question, I’ve been trying to figure that out for years now. Let’s see, I’m a husband, I’m a son, I’m a grandson, I’m a brother, I’m an uncle,I’m a cousin, I’m a friend, and I am a cyclist. I’m from a little place in West Virginia about 20 miles north of Charleston. I work for the state government plus my family and myself have a little business.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife, my rat terrier, and my friends. I also spend a good bit of time helping moderate the site BikeForums. If you have any questions about bikes or bike related items it’s a great place to hang out. There are about 70,000 members there and they all share a common interest…..cycling! Stop by sometime and take a look.
When I’m not doing any of the above I spend a good amount of time trying to get faster on the bike. I am not one of those guys that is just naturally fast. Honestly, I don’t believe God ever intended for me to be on a bike. I have to work my butt off for every little bit of improvement I get. If that isn’t enough I’m naturally overweight. If I would just eat the way I like and set around all the time like my body encourages me to do I believe I would easily be 250 pounds by now. The way I know this is because a little over two years ago I weighed in right around 220 pounds and my weight was still increasing. Luckily for me I had a heart scare and the doctor told me I had to lose weight. Fast forward about a six months and I was down to around 175. During last season I actually made it down to around 165!
Here is a little before and after shot.
Unfortunately once race season was over I went back to my bad habits. I started eating the way I wanted again which basicly meant Chinese buffet or some type of buffet about four or five times a week. I quickly went back up to 191 pounds!!!! At least that is what I weighed on 1/1/07. I am currently back down to 181. My goal is to be around 175 by my first road race of the year on 2/17/07. I hope to be around 165 by the time mountain bike season starts in April.
Wish me luck!!!

If you can do it, I can do it. I need to go from about 220 back to 185. Here’s wishing us both success. Brian
Good luck to you both.
Great to see you share your cycling experiences.
Great job Bruce! Hope this season gives you everything you want!
