Intervals suck!
After a couple of rest days / recovery I finally made it back on the bike yesterday. I had debated riding since I have a sinus infection and I am having some problems breathing. I decided to HTFU and get on out there.
In preparation for the upcoming races, Races at the Lake, I decided that I should probably do some short hill repeats. I decided to do 4×2 minutes as hard as I could. All I can say is they suck!!! I felt like I was going to fall over and die after each one, I just couldn’t catch my breath. My numbers for the repeats weren’t too bad, they weren’t great either though. For the repeats my average wattage (for each) was 450, 414, 441, and 415.
After the intervals I recovered for about thirty minutes then I met up with the Wheelers for the A/B group ride. We had a pretty good ride, did a few climbs and I managed to get some pretty good intensity in.
All in all it was a good day of riding. I managed to get in 52 miles and realized that I really do feel like crap. I started antibiotics last night, hopefully that will help me get to feeling better in time for Saturday’s race.
As for the rest of the week, today I plan on riding two or three hours. Tomorrow will be a rest day so I will probably take the Ninja out for a ride. Friday I will do an easy one hour ride keeping my wattage well under 200 watts for the majority of the ride. Saturday I plan on suffering like a dog and hopefully getting some upgrade points while I’m at it.
