Who am I?
My name is Bruce and I am just a regular guy that tries to race bikes. I get in training whenever I can, between life and work it can get tough sometimes. In the past I have focused on racing mountain bikes. This season my focus is going to be on road races. I hope to do at least 15 races this year but would like to get in 20 or more. Just have to wait and see.
So far it has been a pretty successful season. I have done three races so far and have had two wins and a second place. It seems like all of the work I have done is paying off.

I don’t think the problem is in the strap nor do I believe entire CPU is going bad. I am speculating that the heart rate function on your CPU is shot. However, the rest of the CPU’s functionality remains reliable.
The HRM technology used at the time of its manufacture was the industry standard. Since that time, coded technology has taken its place to eliminate issues like cross talk and frequent drops that many people were experiencing with heart rate monitors across the board. Other companies such as Polar and Garmin have also made the switch from un-coded to coded products.
We feel so strongly about the increased quality of the coded product we no longer offer un-coded options for any of our PowerTap Systems. Since making the switch we have exhausted our resource of un-coded CPU’s to offer a replacement.
We understand the investment each user initially makes in PowerTap and that’s why I offered the discount in exchange for your original CPU & Strap. I hope this explanation has shed some light on the situation.
